Redkin...Teach me all you need me to know!

Ok, so I LOVE going back to school for hair! I am already learning so much and there is SO much more to learn. For anyone that thinks Cosmetology is for "the stupid blonde" LET ME TELL YOU! It is totally not! HA. Things are picking up fast and I've already had my first client. Nothing big, just a bang trim, but a client all the same AND I am pleased to say that she will be coming back for a full haircut :).
I love ALL of the people at Austin Kade Academy. The teachers have the best personalities and bring a fun and light air into the school. The other students are beyond nice and are helping me quickly adapt to the way the salon is run and how the school does things. I am so so SO grateful for their help.
After my first day, my feet are pretty tired and my knees are pretty sore, but that should only last a week. Now I need to get my gears going and study study study the Redkin line of color! Wish me luck!

BACK to SCHOOL!

So, who would have thought that I would go back to the salon? Not me! I thought I found my calling in art, but as the semesters went on, I realized I was missing something. One day while I was still in bed before getting up for the day, the thought of getting my license in Idaho and going back to the salon popped into my head! Right away I was super excited and couldn't wait to tell Matt about my new plan. Of course he was super supportive and I immediately starting calling schools to see where I would be accepted as a transfer student only needing 500 hours. (Idaho requires 500 more hours to be licensed than Massachusetts, bummer huh!?).

I found an amazing school, about 35 minutes from my home, in Idaho Falls. I will be starting TOMORROW! I am beyond excited to learn new things and to add on to experience. There is not a whole lot to say on the matter yet since I haven't fully started, but I will keep trying to update with fun and exciting news!

Matt: Matt is super busy this semester as well. He is working full time, coaching soccer, and illustrating a book! We will hardly see each other :( BUT we are going to spend time together watching this new show Merlin that Kevin and Michelle got us into so I have to RUN!

More LATER!!!

Maine

We spent a week in Maine this summer with my family and, MAN, if I could choose somewhere to live, it would be Maine! It is near impossible to put into words the feel of Maine, so I would just recommend that you please visit. :)

We went for a walk on the Marginal Way with Mom, Grandad, Doris, and Griffin. Mom took this picture of us on some of the rocks we walked by. Bryce finally got his wish, I swung off a rope swing at Salmon Falls. It took 2 years for me to do it, and NO ONE got a picture of me doing it! ha

Sorry about the bad picture quality. I didn't pack our camera charger and our camera died within the first few hours of being in Maine :(. We had to buy those OLD throw away cameras.

New Food

Here's a couple of dishes I've been really into lately.

When Matt and I were flying home from Massachusetts, we ordered this Asain wrap and it was delicious and so I had to attempt to make it when I got home.

Turkey
Carrot Slices
Red Cabbage Slices
Whole Wheat Wrap
Toasted Asian Sesame Salad Dressing

Butternut Squash + Mango =Puree them together.
1 Mango + 1 Banana = Cut fruit into chunks and place in soup.
I love this, Matt thinks it's ok, and many people say it sounds weird! Try it for yourself :)
You can eat it hot or cold. I prefer warm :)

Fall Crafts

Fall is in the air!
My favorite season is finally here and what better way to enjoy it than crafts? So today I went over to one of my favorite stores in town, Porter's, and picked up some things. I had a lot of fun sprucing up our apartment and was really excited for Matt to come home and see what I'd done! Since we are college students n' all, I was on a budget so I could only do a couple of little projects, but it was fun all the same!

A Clip From the Bike Ride

26 Miles of FUN!

About a month and a half ago Matt and I decided to rent a tandem bike from the school and take a nice loooooong ride. There is a small mountain that is close by to Rexburg that we have been wanting to hike called R Mountain. We were feeling ambitious and decided to ride the 13. something miles there, hike up the mountain, and then ride the 13. something miles back.
We had SO much fun!
The scenery was gorgeous and we hope to do it again sometime!

Can you find the little lizard? ^
